IP/Dial Payment Terminals

Achieve Fast, Secure and Managed Payments with Existing Terminals

Dots Challenge

For more than 20 years, the payment terminal has dominated the payment industry, with more than 40 million units deployed worldwide. While the traditional dial-based payment terminal continues to dominate the industry due to its low cost and simple design, recent years have brought faster, more sophisticated IP terminals. While these POS devices have been reliable, each has limitations that become more apparent as broadband technologies continue to evolve. With the growth of broadband network availability, costs have lowered, and it is now more cost effective than ever to process dramatically faster transactions. Existing dial terminals cannot take advantage of broadband technology; IP-enabled terminals offer many of the benefits of broadband, but remain limited in their ability to maintain PABP/PCI compliance. In addition application changes are difficult to deploy to multiple terminals.

Dots Solution

Merchants who currently use dial or IP payment terminals to process transactions can take advantage of the TransNet payment engine application for fast, secure and easily managed transaction processing. TransNet offers the industry’s most comprehensive approach to cardholder data security, beginning with its unique router-based design, which can operate on a number of platforms from Precidia or Cisco. TransNet is easily downloaded into the router, and connected to a dial or IP payment terminal.

TransNet offers several key benefits for terminals: First for dial terminals, it provides faster, more cost effective broadband–based transaction processing, with full security. Dial and IP based terminals can take advantage of TransNet’s winning approach to payments: the router-based design allows for the integration of multiple dial or serial based store peripherals, and field terminals in any location can be accessed remotely for application changes at any time.

IP Terminals become secure, easily managed POS machines with TransNet. The payment engine maintains compliance eliminating the need for re certifications or audits, and leverages NetVu easily update field devices from a central location.

The solution also features a virtual terminal interface, which guides the user through transactions using the terminal’s existing display.

Ideal for merchants with an existing base of dial or IP payment terminals, TransNet accepts credit, PIN debit, gift and other card transactions from many popular dial/IP terminal models, including VeriFone and Hypercom. TransNet manages the transaction until its completion at the processor’s host. The NetVu management server ensures that transaction logs, data and PCI compliance status are fully accessible from a standard web browser, placing control of the transaction squarely in the hands of the user and their service providers.

Dots Benefits

  • Integrate multiple dial and serial based peripherals easily
  • Manage terminals remotely for more efficient, cost effective operations
  • Users migrating from dial achieve cost savings and faster transactions
  • Assists merchant in maintaining PCI compliance with default settings
